Mar 2011 - NEW FEED IN TARIFF

Whilst inflation is not something that would generally cause ripples of joy and laughter, in the world of Solar PV it is good news. The Government recently announced the new tariffs with the below 4kw systems now earning a mega 43.3p/kWh. That is another £60 a year for 25 years for watching the sun shine!

Dec 2010 - British Gas put up their Electricity prices by 7%

For every £100 a year you would have saved using the electricity you generated yourself you will now save £107.

Imagine that prices rise by 7% every year and by the time your contract finishes, in 25 years time, every £100 pounds saved has become £542.74 saved per year! Or, if you prefer a total of £6767.64 per £100 saved!

So the saving will pretty much pay for the system without including the extra payment for exporting electricity back to the grid or the even larger payment for generating electricity!

There has never been and will never be a better time than now to act!

Oct 2010 - Spending Review

Good news! The chancellor is keeping the very generous 41.3p/kWh Feed in Tariff for the moment. He says will review it again if take up is high.

It makes good sense to get on board now while it is still there – 10% returns are still available.

Sep 2010 - Sell Your Roof for Free

I have noticed a growing number of companies that will put solar panels on your roof for free and keep the Feed in Tariff. Great idea, if you can get 16 panels on your roof then you will save about £180 a year in your Electricity bills. On the other hand they will make about £1,330 from the Feed in Tariff.

I would recommend that you either put the panels up yourself or charge them for renting your roof on top of the free electricity.

Aug 2010 - Deposit Guarantee and Product Insurance

We are delighted to announce that Use The Sun Ltd has been granted membership by IWA.biz. Not only does this confirm our commitment to the highest quality of installation and equipment, it also gives our clients peace of mind that each and every payment is fully secured by an independent warranty company that is FSA overlooked.

July 2010 - USE THE SUN LTD GETS BEHIND IMPROVING YOUR RESOURCE EFFICIENCY

If you are a small business based in the Thames Gateway South Essex region then you might be eligible for support for projects to improve your energy efficiency, grants to cover up to 40% of the cost are available. Aimed at companies with less than 250 employees, the Improving Your Resource Efficiency project delivered by Low Carbon Business will address the issue of identifying cost and carbon savings from improved energy efficiency, covering water and material savings as well as green business plans generally.

Cash support will be available in the form of match funded grants for suitable projects, covering both capital and revenue actions for the SME.

One way of improving energy efficiency is to create your own electricity from solar panels on the roof. Not only can you save on the cost of electricity but, with the new Feed in Tariff you can earn money from every kilowatt you generate. With the availability of grants and enhanced Capital Allowance payback could be as little as 4 years, whilst the Feed in Tariff contract is 25 years!

Recognising this, the Improving your Resource Efficiency programme has selected Use the Sun Ltd (www.usethesun.co.uk), specialists in Solar Photovoltaics, as a recognised supplier to organisations taking advantage of the grants.

Managing Director Charles Montlake said: "We're delighted to be partnering with this project. There are enormous financial gains that can be achieved simply by erecting solar panels. Your roof is an underutilised resource, why not put it to work earning money and saving CO2 emissions. We're looking forward to working with the Improving Your Resource Efficiency Programme over the coming months"

The programme is supported by funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and operates in partnership with the five Local Authorities in the region, Basildon, Castle Point, Rochford, Southend and Thurrock as well as NISP and Essex County Council."

Improving Your Resource Efficiency product is part of Solutions for Business, the Government’s package of publicly funded business support designed to help companies start and grow.

Jun 2010 - Great News for SME's in West Essex.

Great news for SME's in the West Essex Gateway. For qualifying companies a 40% grant (grant not loan) is now available to erect Solar PV systems - there has never been a better opportunity, grab it while the money is there.

With 100% of the cost allowable through the Enhanced Capital Allowance this means you could get 100%payback in 4 years (every system needs its own quote) and then an income for the next 21 years.

May 2010 - Higher Energy Bills Warning

According to the Mail on Sunday (May 16 page 81) "Householders are being warned that even higher energy bills are on the way".

Part of the benefit of Solar PV is making and using your own electricity.

The article also states "...average annual usage of 3,300kWh of electricity...". Our 4kw system (actually 3.68kw) could produce around 3kWh of your annual usage. Worth a closer look? Drop us a message.

Mar 2010 - ROC Prices

The latest e-ROC auction of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) was completed on 25th March 2010 with just under 100,000 ROCs being purchased.

The average price achieved was £49.24 an increase of £2.99 or 6.5% from the last auction held in January which returned an average price of £46.25

Feb 2010 - Solar Panels

Use The Sun Ltd agrees specification for solar panels and inverter to ensure that all our Solar PV systems work together to produce electricity from the sun. This solves the problem of Inverters and Solar Panels being incompatible. Considerable savings are to be made by ordering direct.
